The CD arrived in a timely fashion and all was physically well with the CD and jewel box. The booklet inside is informative about the band giving insights to what they're about. There are plenty of songs on the CD and comes in within a few seconds of putting as much information as possible on a single disk. I believe the disk is a pretty fair representation of the band Budgie for a single disk but because it is a single disk it is not a comprehensive all inclusive package which is why this one gets 4 stars. With that...I'd recommend the disk to new Budgie fans to get started and it will make you want to collect all of their albums from their beginning up to 1976. I've not checked out later material as of yet but plan to after I fill in the blanks of their early years first.

I've always had a passion for power house trios, Budgie were one of those bands who played the gig circuits of Great Britain with great gusto in the late 1970s. I saw them in concert I guess 4 - 5 times during that period. Always on the edge of fame,( their band logo being designed and styled in the same manner as the band 'Yes' by the same artist I feel really helped them with recognition) Budgie were never quite the headlining band they deserved to be. This disc is fairly representative of their music, but like all 'Best of' pressings, one wonders why some lacklustre recordings appear on it and some crowd pleasers are omitted. Opening track 'Breadfan' gives you the opportunity to hear them at their best (there was a recording studio video of them playing this track - wonder if it has surfaced yet). 'Grip' and 'Parents' also exemplyfy what Budgie was all about. If you want to explore the British music scene which bubbled just below the headline acts of the late 70s, bands like Budgie or Strife, perhaps even Robin Trower will give you an earful of what it was like to be aiming high, having the right songs, but never quite managing to break through.Read full review
Great selectins from one of the most underrated Heavy Rock N Roll Bands from the 70s. RIP Burke Shelley. You will forever be my "Rocking Man".

hello i probably havent given this album enough time, but on first impressions its similar to early rush, but not as good.im not crazy about the vocalist,it dosent get better untill it gets to the later part of the cd,when the singer sound more like steve marroit (humble pie).budgie has some really nice riffs and cool jams, some songs are real cool.i heard this band as being compared to thin lizzy, but i have to say no,your better bring the house if your going against phil lynott.budgie is more on the lines of nazareth, wish bone ash, uriah heep, some bands like that, there a B class rock group, good not great
How can a Best Of Budgie be anything but GREAT! All great songs, but there´s a lot more. A nice way for those wanting to know their music.
