Carcass really hit their creative peak with this album. It's marriage of brutality and musicianship is very rarely rivaled even in these days. One writer said something akin to "Bill Steer sounds like Yngwie with an assault rifle". His lead playing is tasteful and fluid throughout, occasionally harmonized, and always impressive. For those of you dissatisfied with the redundant constant "blasting" typical of death metal bands, this is a rare treat, running the gamut from slow, churning riffs, melodic Mustaine-style riffs, to over-the-top death metal carnage. The vocals are rather "shredded" sounding, almost Bathory-like at times, rather than the stereotypical low and gruff style of Cannibal Corpse and Deicide.
Carcass' - Heartwork is one of the BEST metal albums of all time!! Ever song is timeless, every riff is excellent and the songs do not show their age at all. Every song is still relevent in todays metal scene and this album is the foundation of bands like - Arch Enemy and In Flames and may others, i could go on for days!! Melodic Death Metal at its best and NEVER beaten!! Any MetalHead who doesn't have this album, is NOT a MetalHead!!
If you're into death metal, you have to hear this album. Carcass' previous work was rather sub-par at best, but that all changed with the release of Heartwork. Featuring some surprisingly technical guitar work, as well as infectious riffs, intelligent lyrics and raw vocals, this album stands out as the bands most mature effort and belongs in any metal fan's library.
I have bought this CD because I like this music! She cheers me up and serviceability! To tell more nothing and so all is clear!!
