If you are familiar with John Frusciante's prolific solo career you will already know that he has released many albums that could loosely be filed under many different genres. Ranging from electronica (A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence) to folk (Curtains) to alternative rock (To Record Only Water For Ten Days), Inside Of Emptiness could possibly be described as his most straight up rock album and mainly consists of songs with a lot of his trademark great guitar playing and live drums, its pretty "safe" as Frusciante records go. This album is quite difficult to find new, this is why I purchased it through ebay, if u see it and you want it, you should buy it, you wont't get the chance to often.
all i can say is that its excellent, i'm a big frusciante fan anyhow and the work he does with Josh is fantastic. my favourite songs on the album have to be Communique, Surrogate People and The Afterglow.
I have always been a RHCP fan but John Frusciante's work is on a different level. It's raw, personal, emotive and something you can really connect to. Fantastic CD from a brilliant artist.
If you usually like John Frusciante, this record will be no exception. This album consists of recordings from the same session as Automatic Writing, so naturally the sound and atmosphere of the tracks are very alike. John recklessly (mis)uses a wide variety of spacy effects, and combined with his magnificent songwriting and Josh Klinghoffers supreme drumming, this record goes over the top. An absolute must-have for any John Frusciante fan.
