Music: Humppa-influenced Folk Metal Label: Spinefarm Records Country: Finland Cool songs: Trollhammaren, Ursvamp, Det Iskalla Trollblodet, Grottans Barn ‘Nattfödd’ is FINNTROLL’S third full length album, preceded by the ‘Trollhammaren’ EP. Those two albums were sold separately, but there was a limited edition, counting 5000 copies, including ‘Trollhammaren’ and ‘Nattfödd’. The band logo and the title of the album are printed with golden letters on the jewelcase, whereas the booklet does not have the band logo. Now this is the music for my tired ears! The album is very heavy, dynamic and folk! The musicians did their homework and now they are serving the main course: fleshy and even more heavy compositions, combined with raw Scandinavian folk. This album gives even more pleasure from listening, than the EP. Here, the compositions create and old Finnish saga, performed diligently with high attention to technical details. The church fair elements still appear, but they push the whole a level higher. A very narrow group of bands can call themselves the entertainers, and FINNTROLL is one of them. Just to mention millions of amazing ideas, swaps between instrumental motifs, from fleshy riffs to banjo-like fingering. A kaleidoscope. Of compositions and sounds. This album is one of the best things which happened in 2004 on the folk metal scene. There is no doubt about it, that FINNTROLL is a very strong player and will create new paths for the successors-to-be. - Greycoat Tracklist: 1. Vindfärd / Människopesten (Windtravel/Human Plague) 2. my 15 year old cousin actually found this band and i got addicted in a hurry after hearing Trollhammaren for the first time. there is a ton of raw energy in that song with a mix of instruments that blew my mind when i actually started picking the music apart. these guys along with Ensiferum opened up a whole new realm of music for me to sift through.
