In 2006 with a motive of a compilation of Black Sabbath Dio years; Dio, Iommi, Butler and Appice reunited for the 3rd. time and get along well because they decided to record another 3 new songs for the mentioned compilation (the excellent "The Devil Cried", "Shadow Of The Wind" and "Ear In The Wall"), after a well received tour under the name of HEAVEN & HELL (the name of the first album with Dio and in my opinion the Best Black Sabbath album of all times), because they cannot call themselves Black Sabbath due to a proble with Sharon Osbourne about the copyrights of the name, in 2009 10 new recordings appearing in this album called "The Devil You Know". First let me tell you that all the players are in good shape besides their age, but there are no great metal riffs like Iommi has treated us to for so many years, jut a repetitive sounds throughout all the songs that are midtempo (slow songs), in fact the album sound like "Master Of The Moon" part II, which is not a bad album, but when I listen this cd it seems like I heard it before. I hope if there another HEAVEN & HELL album the songs will be a little faster. So I recommend to buy this album if you are a truly Black Sabbath fan if not only download some of the songs like "Bible Black" or "Follow The Tears".Read full review
im tired of Dio era black sabbath fans comparing this cd to Heaven and hell or Mob rules, some whine that nothing stands out on this cd..thats pure bullocks. i think "The devilyouknow" is a very good cd, by an older wiser black sabbath. the first song "Atom and Evil" is a great song, its an epic song..that has the 80s sabbath signature sound..the riff is HUGE, Dios singing is in fine form, for his age. another great track is "Bible black"..it has the classic acoustic quiet beggining, and then boom! that heavy guitar crashes down. sabbath has a fiew songs that style if your a fan youll know what i mean. also "turning the screw" and "follow the tears" are worthy songs. give the disc a chance, itll grow on you..ill say "the devil you know" is similiar to "Dehumanizer".
Simply a must have for Sabbath and Dio fans. This release has the band picking up from where they left off (in my opinion) after the split that found Ronnie James Dio leaving Sabbath after creating both Heaven & Hell (1980) and Mob Rules (1981) with the band. Unlike Dio's return to the studio in 1992 for "Dehumanizer" this new release from the band really sounds like it coulda been the 3rd release from Sabbath (I still have to call them that although I know they can't legally any longer) because it really picks up where the band left off after Mob Rules and the initial breakup. This new effort, all of these years later, sounds awesome! Dio and the guys in Sabbath have been playing together, and touring live and doing a great job playing all the old standards over the last couple years, but now with new material that rocks maybe well be seeing an even longer and productive period with Dio at the helm belting out vocals again. Only time will tell, but man oh man this sure is a great album of new material. Long live Sabbath!Read full review
For those music lovers who enjoy melodic hard rock with a "sharp tongue". this record is just what you would like. Powerful vocals, intricate guitar chords,, steady bass foundation, and on-time drumming all combined with well-written songs and melodies make tthis record a keeper.

Dio and the boys are right on the money again with this surprise album. I write surprise because Dio's voice is still strong and Tony, Geezer and Vin are a well oiled machine at any age. I actually think the musicianship is actually better than their other recordings. While I am an admitted Dio/ Sabbath fan, I can't believe that they could have pulled off a better record with Ozzy. This album has the hooks, the dark sounds and outstanding playing that you would expect. Just great!!!!!!!!!!!!!
