Nitro's second effort is without bassist T.J. Racer and drummer Bobby Rock, who played on their previous release, "O.F.R.," but it didn't stop them from continuing with their over the top delivery. Jim Gillette's ditched the 10 pounds of blonde hair extensions, and Michael Angelo Batio's Ultimate Guitar (a guitar in the shape of an X with 4 necks) got stolen, so they've toned it down a bit, but their unique blend of speed, glam, and sleaze still shines through like a diamond in the rough. To say that Nitro can be taken seriously may come as a joke to some, but given the era that Nitro lived in, it makes their melodramatic, high octane brand of big hair heavy metal all the more amusing. They may have dressed up like girls, but these guys were tough. Jim Gillette could break glass with his voice (it's argued whether or not this is good or bad, but impressive nonetheless), and would often strain to hit high notes so much that he would end up coughing up blood on stage. The guy even did a large number of shows while on tour with pneumonia, and even played a show (and performed the stunt where he breaks a wine glass with his higher octave crooning) the same day he had his wisdom teeth removed. And you can't deny his chops now. I mean, he is married to Lita Ford.Read full review
