It´s an excellent career spanning. But honestly, i´ve enjoyed a lot much the vol.2. The REVENGE tour concert, and the unplugged both are awesome, but discs 2 & 3 have a lot of repetitive material, i mean, i would love to see more of the Psycho Circus tour outside the US (WHY THEY DIDN´T HAVE PUTTED THE ARGENTINA SHOWS? THEY WERE FILMED FOR NATIONAL TV AND THOSE TAPES GOT AN OUTSTANDING QUALITY!!!!) and less from the Reunion tour. And about the disc 4, it's the coventry show man!!!!! i mean, it's the earliest performance videotaped by the band, probably the quality it isn't outstanding but, it's a hell of a document!!!!!!!!! And the hidden videos are incredible as always. Specially the CARNIVAL OF SOULS sessions. A little secret, at the end of the 3rd disc credits, you will see the Peter Criss very last performance smashing the drums all over the place!!!!!!!!! Well, as i said before, this is a great final for an awesome trilogy.Read full review
First of all,i have to mention that i didn't watch this with 5.1 surround system,so take it into account when i mention the sound quality. Disc one opens with live gig from Revenge tour, most likely filmed with release of a live video in mind. The playing is very tight and song selection is broad selection from Kiss' career. My guess why this wasn't released is that it has several directorial mistakes. Bombs going off and they have close ups of members, pillars blocking part of the picture, etc. Little mistakes, nothing major.I don't think this is properly mixed. The main reason why i bought this set was the Unplugged. This even has a bonus program of behind the scenes and unedited show. Basically, everything a longtime fan could hope for, plenty of rare songs, acoustic versions, first appearance of original four, great filming and set. If you don't have Unplugged, this box set is worth it's price for it only. Kiss' reunion tour's opening gig proper at Tiger stadium wasn't surprisingly filmed. This is compiled from screen shots,so what you get,is a lot of close up shots and during the song intervals, black screen. Performance has still some mistakes. The interest for this comes from the moment and not from quality of picture or sound(poor) or playing. VMA performance and Detroit rock city premiere are both excellent quality in filming and playing, but being only snapshots of a gig, they are only bonus material. Opening of Psycho circus tour at Dodger stadium was properly filmed. Why this wasn't released is a mystery. I saw them live on this tour and this is far more energetic and inspired than the tired and sloppy thing i saw. Oh,by the way,the 3-d effects are only barely visible on the screens. The Last Kiss The fire had dissipated by this time and band had decided to call it a day. I expected this to be by the numbers gig,but it isn't. Seems like they gathered their last bit of energy and gave a good performance. Why this is so short,i don't know. Coventry gig from 22.12-73 Was filmed to get them opportunity to check their performance and learn from it,what's working, what's not. Filmed from the back of a small club, black and white, slightly better sound quality than on bootlegs, only a little bit of zooming. All this doesn't make an enjoyable watching. The main interest for this is,of course, coming from so early on their career. Songs come from their first album, except for Let me go rock'n'roll. Note that Paul introduces Nothin to lose as their single. This is the only place where i've come across Let me know, live. They already were building their live show, siren, lights and drum riser already present. Curiosity value only. Bonus disc Sao paulo 28.7-94 This is absolutely great! I'm sorry for those who don't get this bonus. Great filming, song selection. Unfortunately the sound leaves a little bit to desire, maybe surround helps? Band on top form, class! And Rock and roll all nite is NOT included in this set. The only odd thing is audience sound,it clearly wasn't miked,so it sounds as if the audience is barely there or not responding. Which isn't the case,as you can hear especially on Detroit rock city. The absolute highpoints of this set are Unplugged and Sao paulo. Tiger stadium is for most ardent fans only.Read full review
Plain and simple, whatever Gene and Paul approve to have made under the KISS banner is ALWAYS 24karat Gold! They have ALWAYS cared enough about every detail when it comes to KISS so that first and foremost, the FANS are rewarded for their financial, emotional, mental, and physical support, across every race and age group! There are phenomenal and well deserving groups and single musicians out there from all genres but KISS stands ALONE as the premiere rock and roll band for this world...the KISSWORLD!!! If you are new to KISS, pick anything, ANYTHING from their history and listen to it or watch it and hear/see for yourself...You've always wanted the best...it's been there since 1973 and continues today and FOREVER! KISSARMY 4-STAR GENERAL, T.A.W.
Kiss will show you how they rock the world... their way! The ruinion shows and the shows that came after that, I especially like the Psycho Circus show, why they are the best live rock band in the world! The one thing I did miss are other tv segments like the other 2 volumes had. Also I would have liked the commitary to include Ace and Peter as well. Still all in all one of the best dvd-sets one can buy! Everybody who will buy this set will not be sorry! Even if you have nothing with Kiss, you still will be blowen away by the power of the show this band can put on!
Happy to have recieved Kissology 3 with the bonus disc of my choice (Sao Paulo), ... finally. Great to see that the material on this set isn't as cut up as it was on the previous boxset, and the well known profanity in Paul Stanley's mid concert rants has not been censored this time too. The problem i have with this set is the factory mistake i got, they included TWO copies of disc 4, meaning i lost out on disc 2, which means that i miss out on half of one of the concerts on it as it is continued on disc 3. Other than that it's a great boxset, but doesn't compare to volume 1 or 2.
