So I always said that Dokken's "Back for the Attack" album was George Lynch's magnum opus... his greatest achievement that be all-end all defined who and what he is. That was, until I bough "Sacred Groove". Now "Sacred Groove" is not "Back for the Attack". It's not structured, recorded, nor does it sound similar. But it IS 100% George. Here we have G.L. shredding his ass off 2 songs into it, creating one of the best guitar solos of his career. The album is bold and goes places not gone before by George, but after you hear it you'll ask why he waited so long to do so. The only complaint I have about this album is the songs "The Beast part 1 and 2" which I really cannot stand. I feel this is where George begins to loose his mind, exactly what happened on every album he has made after this... i call it Joe Satriani Syndrome... after how Joe lost his mind somewhere in the 1990's as well. I feel these two songs go more of the Nu Metal / Alternative direction, a direction I despise to the farthest extent of it. But besides those two songs, the rest of the album is flawless and because so, i will not hold "The Beast 1 and 2" against the album and still give it an excellent rating. This is not Dokken, This is not Lynch Mob but it sure is George Lynch, an entirely different animal all together. Where George took complete control and shows us what he's got. I loved it!Read full review
I have bought it because George Lynch is one of the Best String-sorcerer of the world. At the Songs, Flesh and Blood,We Don't Own This World,Not Necassary Evil and Cry Of The Brave, the Vocals are very pleasant, and in a excellent way into the Music integrates. The Beast,an unmistakable Act of the happening. An ingenious Part,Music,Animalism and Vocals to connect in a perfect whole. The instrumental Tracks are together with the complete Album,Grand. The Guitar play is all-up fantastic. With Memory Jack, is starting, one walk through another Sphere, with never ending fascinating Impressions. A very recommendable Album!!!
I really enjoy this 1993 solo release. The former Dokken axeman really has outgunned his old band in every way. Whether its his solo material or the material with Lynch Mob I enjoy George Lynch a lot more without Don Dokken and the band. This cd is very stout, I love the instrumentals and the way the disk begins. Like an earlier reviewer stated (and I agree totally), the only trash songs on this are "The Beast 1 & 2"...they simply don't fit on this, nor are they particularly any good, other than that this is a pretty stout solo cd by a master.
Great cd
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
Good overall album. Rhythmic peaks and valleys. Good range of vocalists, instrumentals very Satriani-esque... Best tracks are "Flesh and Blood" with Ray Gillen, former Badlands front man, and instrumental "Love Power From the Mama Head"... George's axe smokes throughout...
