I've really liked 2 of the tunes on this album (In-n-out Of Love & Hell Is Beautiful) since I heard them on the radio 20+ years ago. Bought the cassette when it came out (still have it) but sound quality went south years ago. Even though this CD doesn't have the original album cover on it, I'm still glad I bought it. Not many people have ever heard of Heavy Pettin', but they put out several great tunes before they went away. They didn't necessarily do anything any different than what was already out, but what they did, they did pretty well. If you like 80's Metal (Hair Metal, if you will), this & their second album would be good ones to pick up. I have both albums on vinyl.
Released in 1983, Heavy Pettin' was formerly known as the band Weeper from Glasgow, Scotland. Brian May the outstanding guitarist from the band Queen done the production on this bands debut release and the guitarist has a style similar to May's. The name of the band was actually borrowed from the classic UFO album "Heavy Pettin'" and actually the music is also very similar to the band UFO. The sound is a great mix of melodic and hard rock guitar with outstanding vocals. They toured with Saxon during the time of this release and from what I've read they actually stole the show as the opening act. If you love hard rock with great guitar and vocals then your definitely gonna want to check this out. It rocks!
