There's a reason why I like this album alot, this is the first Megadeth album I listened too and it made me a fan of this band. This album has both Megadeth element from 80's & 90's, from mid tempo, up tempo to the speed one. The opening track Trust becoming one of Megadeth classic that still being played till present. Vortex, She-wolf, The disintegrators, FFF are songs that still sounds like the 80's Megadeth. Other songs like A secret place, Almost honest, Sin, Use the man, Mastermind etc sounds like a natural progression from their previous 2 records Countdown to Extinction and Youthanasia. The songs Sin (Evi's that within), FFF(Bullprick) & Vortex were actually written & has been recorded during Youthanasia period under a different song title. It was included as bonus tracks on the remastered version of this album. I'll get even sounds like an experimental track and seems to have a different drum sound compare to the rest. Overall this is a solid Megadeth record musically and the sound production is great. This would be Megadeth latest album with their classic line up (Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson , Marty Friedman & Nick Menza)Read full review
while not the strongest offering by Megadeth this CD still has it's moments ---- notably FFF, Secret Place, and She Wolf. The first two "singles" were an unfortunate choice to showcase this album as they lack the power and emotion that fans come to expect from the band. The remaining album tracks are what save this record although it does have it's momemnts that lack fluidity (as evidenced by the fact of this being the last recording by the 4 core members of the '90s incarnation of the band)
It's been more than 10 years since I bought this record and just like the other Megadeth record, it stand the test of time and I still enjoy listening to this album till today. The only track I dislike would be I'll get even. Have cool will travel also doesnt really get me but still a pretty cool tune. If you like Megadeth then I dont see why you wouldn't like this record. Trust, A secret place, FFF, She-wolf, Vortex, The disintegrators, Use the man,etc they're all great tracks! Mastermind riff has a robotic/futuristic feel to it like Pyschotron from Countdown to Extinction. The bonus tracks on this remastered version is definetely worth getting!
Great cd!
