First time Ive heard Dissection's Storm of the lights bane album i was amazed and instantly it became one of my most important CDs. I'm owner of one copy of this CD for a longer time but it was only re-release from 2002 and it contains also MCD Where dead angels lie. Reason of buying this first press was simple. After some years i can say that this album is most personal and no.1 music in mine collection and i like it from beginning till the end and bonus songs destroys the whole concept of this masterpiece. Death metal meets black metal at its finest where every metalhead can find piece to like. Everything on this albums is absolutely amazing when it comes to music itself(very melodic but very dark as well), feelings which it creates(sadness, hatred, etc... all what album like this should contain) and lyrics(satanic, but not any unintelligent like dark funeral and other bands like this have). So if your looking for absolute superior metal music, Dissection's Storm of the lights bane album will definitely not let you down. And if it does then you should waste your time on some pop instead!Read full review
Anyone knows this is a classic. Don't you? So be advised, it's a colossal record by a legendary band, dark metal in its zenith, plus this version has a bonus CD with this album in an alternative mix and some extras collected from the demo days and b-sides. Highly indicated!!!

If Metallica's "Kill 'Em All" was the monumental record in extreme metal of the 80's, then Dissection's "Storm Of The Lights Bane" was of the 90's. Untouchable, memorable, melodic, precise, dark, and just downright nasty-sounding, Dissection took the metal scene by storm (pun not intended) when this came out and there really hasn't been anything on the same level since. There are plenty of classical-influenced guitar parts on this otherwise death/black/thrash metal release, which gives this thing some strong dynamics. Vocalist/guitarist Jon Nodtveidt said the idea was to take the melody and harmony of Iron Maiden, with the complexity of King Crimson, and the ferocity of early Kreator. I think they accomplished that goal better than pretty much any other band since. Plus, you can't help but like the cool artwork.Read full review
