Nitro is a band people often write off as being an untalented metal act from the metal heartland of Los Angeles with a unhealthy taste for the over-dramatic. This much is true: Nitro was very, very over the top. Denying that would get you ten years in a jail cell, to say the least. But to say that Nitro was an untalented bunch of misfits...Well, pardon the play on words, but that's just out-fucking-rageous (Which just happens to be what O.F.R. stands for). The one thing that people tend to forget when Nitro comes to mind is that during the late 1980's, every heavy metal band on the Sunset Strip was trying to outdo each other to an almost unbelievable level. Nitro was no exception, but you can certainly say that they put some decent effort into it. Jim Gillette taught himself to sing on a range of six octaves, ranging from barritone to soprano. Michael Angelo Batio is one of the best guitarists of all time, if not the best. He's been named the fastest, most technical guitarist in the world numerous times by numerous music magazines. T.J. Racer provides a steady bassline, and Bobby Rock was an all star drummer of the era (for proof listen to the drum tracks on either of the Vinnie Vincent Invasion records). You can't take this music too seriously, because we all know that at the time, the genre was in anything but a serious state. Whether you love it or hate it, you can't deny it, Nitro had it.Read full review
This is the baddest and hardest cd that Nitro has ever done. The other cd that they did does not even sound half as hard rocking as this one, and Jim Gilette does not sing in real high tones on the other cd "Nitro 2" like he does on this one, even though both are cool. The cd is just excellent hard rock with the bonus of Gilette's voice higher than any other hard rock vocalist that I have ever heard before, which makes this very cool. Bobby Rock from Nelson and Vinnie Vincent Invasion plays drums so tight and loud that even adds more great emphasis to the sound of the music. The cd is really hard to come by, I wish that it was not because any hard rock fan that wants to hear hard rock with a high pitched voice and cool drums added to it should own this cd.
I love NITRO I had it on cassette and am happy to own it on cd and am happy to of found it it arrived it excellent condition and do recommend it the whole cd is good and you don't have to skip any songs

Some people really were annoyed by these guys back in the day since it was the end of hair metal days. That being said, these guys did have a lot of talent. From Michael Angelo's speed picking cadenza's to Jim Gillette's banshee vocals, you might not like the way it was packaged but there is no denying that these guys were every bit as extreme as their name. The songs are also very catchy. I'm glad to see some of the the songs are re-released at www.angelo.com. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Great album if you liked Motley Crue's "Shout at the devil" and Anthrax's "Armed and Dangerous". Scream falsettos and shred guitars at it best, with a small amount of humor. These guys can make you laught or amaze you with their brand of metal virtuosity and ridiculesness. An 80's masterpiece!!!
