First ten years didn't click with this album; though, could see talent here. One day glance thru collection..nothing. Pull out Against, play it...ZZZAAAMMMMBBO! Man, thing thing soars in my view. It actually could be seen as an album of experimentation: Fusing elements with a core metal grip. The advance of tribal rhythms; percussive, tonal, and vocal, is quite evocative at times. There seems to be a relational learning curve with this album. Going into it with a resentment over the fact of Max Cavalera's departure prior to this, or simple sonic criteria required, may result in dislike. The reality of the collective artistic motivation and semblance of ideas expressed through constructively skilled arrangements can be clearly experienced on this mode of revelation. Certain gratitude goes out to these gentlemen for executing Against. Anything which inspires to greater good, further study, or continued work is a compliment in my estimation. This breakthrough Sepultura album clearly demonstrates how the band would evolve without Max. For many, the band died here. For others, like me, this record is a milestone of the beginning of another remarkable era of the group. Derrick Green is not just a replacement, but a great singer/songwriter with a total different and genuine style which, along with the remaining Sepultura members, would put the band back on tracks and open up new possibilities for such a brilliant career. If you've never listened to this album, give it a shot. This rare piece will blow your ears and break your spine with top quality headbanging heavy music.

this album still kick a#@ even with out max, repeative heavy riffs that get ya jumping out of ur seat, old earth is great . if ya like old school sepulutra you will like this cd since they are still close to old school roots on this one !
