This is not my first time with this record, I bought it when it was realized one dozen times perhaps, just to give to my friends, because I love the way Malcolm describe Paris. A jazzy-glam-punk way to travel around the streets of Paris. Saddly, I never been there, and if I would, my msic is going to be this record for sure, and it is a perfect companion to Divine Comedy's "Casanova". As I told, this is not my first time with Paris but yes with the second disc (remixed versions of the first) and I rediscovered the music in it. For me: it's PERFECT, enjoy it if you have a chance. Cheers.
Malcolm McClaren's finest work, apart from the perfectly dreadful first track. But don't worry about that as the rest of the album is superb, and highly evocative of Parisian jazz clubs, gitane cigarettes and the agonies of love. There is something to please everyone on this album, and CD2, which is purely instrumental, is the perfect background music to just sit back to and enjoy! Highly recommended indeed. McClaren came close to getting things right with the operatic 'Fans' but with this album he succeeded. IIt is a fitting epitaph to a musical enigma.
fantastic album! mclaren at his best!
