Nowhere near as good as their first album which had several great tracks (although they are all very similar). Played it once and took it to the charity shop.
A great batch of songs here from Keane. Every track has a real purpose and is performed with passion and feeling. Expertly mastered and mixed for maximum listening pleasure, there are few dull moments in the 50 minutes of playing. Better Than This (track 3) features almost Phil Collins style drumming in the middle, for a short section, helped along by the engineering. Perfect Symmetry (track 5) appears to be a response to terrorism (7/7 in particular) and religion. You Haven't Told Me Anything (track 4) is another of the albums triumps and an instant favourite, the closing vocals come through with ear catching pitch. Opening track Spiralling features more facinating lyrics, a trademark of this highly talented group, and punches through the speakers with great power. Keane have no fear of expressing their views in their music but do so in a constructive, thought provoking way. You Don't See Me (track 6) is a reminder of Chris de Burgh both lyrically and musically. Again And Again (track 7) is another classic song full of energy and superb vocals. Black Burning Heart (track 10) is heartfelt and fast, liking of it increases with every listening. In my opinion, the less interesting songs are The Lovers Are Losing (track 2) Playing Along (track 8) and Pretend That You're Alone (track 9). The 'lesser' songs are more than made up for by the sheer brilliance of the others featured around them. This fine album closes with Love Is The End (track 11), a quieter track of a more jazzy, reflective style and is a great way to close the record.Read full review
I have decided to review this cd, as I believe this is the best pop album currently available. I saw Keane at a free special gig, where I heard many of the tracks on this album. I loved most of them, as all the crowd were singing and dancing along to them. They are very punchy, and have you rocking. The lead singer has a spot on voice that"s faultless and this truly comes across. I feel anyone who purchases this album will absolutely delighted and well impressed!!!
I am really loving this album - wasn't overly impressed when I first heard it but it's a real grower...the more you listen the more you want to keep playing!! some good lyrics and great up-beat tempo's as well as a few beautiful ballads that Keane manage to do so well...I'm amazed that they have managed to try something a little different with this album but still manage to sound like Keane...would def recommend buying this album - you wont be dissapointed!
I'm a Keane fan and purchased their 2 previous albums, so when I knew they had a new album out I decided to buy it off ebay. I like the album, all of the songs are typical Keane songs, full of emotion. Highly recommended to all.
