I bought this to fill out my collection of the group. At first listen, it's a bit dry and not really super exciting. But as I've listened to it over the past few weeks, it's been growing on me as all good music does. The music is somewhat melancholy. It's the lyrics that shine here. If this is your first OTR purchase, go check out Films for Radio or Eve, those two releases are much more accessable to the new fan, I think so anyways. Drunkard's Prayer is for the serious fans of the band sort of like Ohio is. There's one or two tracks I can live without on this CD and Ohio too, but overall it's a decent CD and I'm glad I bought it. A must have for hardcore fans of Over the Rhine!
great music

I heard the first cut of this album at the end of a movie (The Open Road - not so good) and I had to find it. A pleasant surprise the whole album is good. It's a soft bluesy voice with back up piano- very nice with a touch of melancholy. I would buy more of their music.
