Silent Civilian is the new band from ex-Spineshank member, Johnny Santos. So, that being said, I can easily say that this band sounds like a really pumped up version of Spineshank. They're not as radio friendly as Spineshank ended up being, so perhaps this is why this band may be better. They're heavier, faster, harder - unfortunately, they do fall victim to the ever popular synchopation of the drums and guitars; then again, so many bands do this, you'll overlook it and still enjoy the album. The CD is definitely a long one, most of the songs run about 5 minutes....it might be too much for some listeners, as they will feel like a song is about to end, but really it's just changing pace. The lyrics are pretty hard, but the topics might sound repetative to some - but again, what bands' lyrics don't? This CD will come out strong and end strong. Santos does a lot of screaming, but he will use his singing voice every now and again, so it really gives the songs a nice feel and variety. I think this band may be an acquired taste just because of the fact that they're really just a heavier version of Spineshank and because their songs can run long. I enjoy the fact that the songs are 5 minutes on average, because I feel too many bands put out short songs and extremely short CDs these days. Not to mention, the long CD really makes you feel like you got your money's worth out of it. Also, at times, this band can have similar sounding songs and such...but at least they're catchy and strong. I would recommend this to ANY metal fan, first and foremost. I think Silent Civilian is definitely worth a listen. If you enjoyed Spineshank, give this band a try. Silent Civilian may not be as melodious or radio friendly, they may not have those electronic elements that Spineshank had, but there are similarities which ex-fans can find appealing.Read full review
I SAW THESE GUYS AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES OPENING UP FOR DROWNING POOL. IT WAS MY SON'S FIRST CONCERT AND I WAS WORRIED THAT THE FIRST BAND THAT HE SAW ON STAGE WAS GOING TO BE A BUNCH OF HACKS & JUST HAPPY TO BE ON STAGE. THESE GUYS MADE ME PROUD TO LOVE METAL! THEY SET THE BAR HIGH FOR MY SON'S NEXT CONCERT.
Silent is a kick ass band, with powerfull and very strong music, they will go big, so get their cd before ever one else, so u can bragg that u liked them first, they have very strong and intense lyrics. You can't ask for a better band
A good album, but if you think that Silent Civilian are equal to Spineshank (because the vocalist Johnny Santos is also a member of Spineshank) you go wrong: they follow metalcore sound with many solos (that are, in my opinion, excellent!!!) and some parts in acustic guitar.
The rebirth of a Temple is a rare cd that for me came out of know where and blew me away. Coming in at 1 hour and 4 minutes not one second of that is boring. the last track of the cd is one of the best closing tracks I have ever heard.
