Bought this album because of hearing the one track 'Taking Back Control' on the college radio a lot. Lyrically, melodically, etc., the kind of song that can make it really big in the pop-punk scene. I remember reading somewhere comparing the band as Bono from U2 meets Radiohead and it seems to be a very accurate description for the album. You don't hear it as much in 'Taking Back Control,' but on other tracks becomes a much more obvious comparison. But, unfortunately the album really is only worth that one track. It's a good album, but nothing else really sticks out, whether as a sing along pop song, or thrashy mosh song, whatever purpose, the other tracks don't seem to have any edge to them. Even if you love the genre, it's just the sort of stuff you can listen to and forget about as soon as the song's over.Read full review
I really love the throaty voice of Jim Ward, the simple straitforward beats of Tony Hajjar, and the less is more attitude of the band. They are a great rock band, and I think people will be discovering just how good they really are in years to come. Threes is an excellent album, and I absolutely love the song "Taking Back Control". I can really relate to his lyrics and songwriting. Sparta. Gotta love em.
