With Deafening tracks like Dead Skin Mask and the title track Seasons In The Abyss, How could this be anything less than a fantastic Trash album? I've been looking for this album for a couple years and it is near impossible to find an original copy like I did. The aggression starts off hitting hard with War Ensemble and Spirit In Black, and you feel like your being tracked down by a serial killer when you hear that unmistakable opening riff. One after another the songs do not disappoint. Once you get to get to Seasons In The Abyss, you don't know if its ever going to end, because Slayer has managed to capture the feeling of the Abyss itself with this track. If you're a Slayer fan, you've already heard this album and you know exactly what I mean. If you haven't heard it, shame on you, and go out and get it now. This is possibly the best Trash Metal album, and absolutely one of the greatest Metal albums ever. If you scare easy, then go buy some Backstreet boys or something. If you like a good dose of evil, then this is THE Album for you.Read full review
Dig,It's not Slayer at their peak like Reign in Blood. But,whose to say when Slayer hit their peak.Sure a lot of their hardcore fans was calling South Of Heaven when they sold out.Personally,I like both. And,this album is a blend of the Two.Seasons in The Abyss still hard driving songs as well slow sludgy songs but it's still creepy and it's all Slayer in their prime.Again, who's to say what's Slayer's prime.War Ensemble which opens Seasons harkens back to their neck-breaking speed and voracity which made Slayer. That song was also used in The First Gulf War.Sure some of the songs are slower and have a dark moody, murky Black Sabbath on meth quality to them.Slayer always was a band that people tried to count out.I previously mention South of Heaven. But,when Divine Intervention came out during the great grudge/industrial/gothic tragedy of the early to mid '90"s .People said they can't survive without Dave Lombardo's drumming. But,they did for at least 7 years. When they came out with Undisputed Attitude, people said "Why did they do a punk rock cover CD?".At least, they didn't do pussified covers like Bob Seger Songs or a symphony redoing their classis songs a la Metallica. When they came out with Diabolus Música people said they was trying to compete with Slipknot and bands of that metal genre.Granted ,it wasn't their best CD.Though,I love God Hates Us All but the Slayer hardcore said it was a sellout album. Now,Christ Illusion debuted at 5th Place.Slayer clearly is a band who had a lot of ups and downs which is still going strong today.Seasons also has a lot of ups and downs, hills and valleys, fast and slower songs but it's all Slayer. And,it's all good. So,we can dance with the dead in our dreams while Ed Gein stares at us wearing his 'Dead Skin Mask' lurking in the shadows.Hallowed Point pierces through our skulls realizing Slayer might not the fastest band anymore. They come from a hard foundation and they're still hard and heavy as hell.Read full review

BUY IT!!! Most ppl think Metallica created everything metal...not true. The 4 bands credited to metal beginnings is Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, & SLAYER. Rick Rubin, the legendary producer, worked with these guys from their start. Metallica, on the other hand, fired their only producer from their start & hired Rubin to help "influence" Death Magnet to Metallica's early roots (sell outs). All post-80's metal is influenced by this album...at least the true metal. \m/..
