Iggy Pop himself went back into the studio in 1997 and remastered the original 1973 David-Bowie-produced album. (The album still sounds bad, but this is intentional--there is a large amount of distortion in the remix which is part of the overall sonic impact of the record.) Raw Power is indispensible to any rock collection. The Stooges were one of, if not the, most important bands linking the later punk rock to what came before. Three or four years before the Sex Pistols, Voidoids, et. al., there was this. Pop himself contributed a thorough interview explaining the band, original recording, and the remix.
