This little EP is an odd addition to the Tourniquet library, even for a metal band as odd as this one! This thing is all over the map, a little bit of everything that doesn't seem to amount to anything in particular. There's a ballad, some heavy stuff, some accoustic stuff. Carry the Wounded is a straight-up metal song. Oh Well is a Fleetwood Mac cover that is kind of bluesy. Promise and Heads/Tails are acoustic re-releases that seem unnecessary. The buzz over this EP is the ballad, When the Love is Right, which was an expected hit. There's little thrash here. None of Kirkpatrick's signature speed changes. While this is a unique band that has a reputation for being creative, this seems like an odd addition to their discography. Fans may find it disappointing although the mellower stuff might, might garner them ever more respect. Buy it only if you get a super deal or if you want the ballad for your wedding ceremony.Read full review
