Every band or project that Chris Pitman or Greg Edwards are associated with is pure gold and I will purchase. So, I bought this album primarily because Chris Pitman was the producer and main composer of the work. Not to mention the amazing album art work and illustration. And it even has Paul D'Amour ex-Tool memember and Greg Edwards, Failure and now Autolux memeber. Also has Brad Laner, whom I am interested in listening to more of. Anyhow, after listening to Lusk over and over, I have added it to my favorites. Truely an amazing and beautiful album. In a nutshell, the album is sounds like a hodepodge of musical instruments such as piano and synths, feminine vocal styles, making it very upbeat in your face, quirky, yet brooding and ambient at times. It would be entirely unfair to compare to Beatles, but I can seem some comparisons along the way. It is alternative at its evolutionary peak just before everything turned pop. I was guaranteed quality from the beginning. Pretty much every band or project that Chris Pitman has been involved in shows his amazing talent. At first, it wasn't that clear cut; but I eventually found Lusk from this progression of steps. Being a huge fan of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Nine Inch Nails, I decided to add Failure, Autolux, and more experimental music to the mix. Truthfully, based on the recommendations of two of my all time favorite artists. Maynard James Keenan of Tool telling the audience on a bootleg APC cd to listen to Failure and Trent Reznor of NIN giving his blessings to Autolux on his website. Upon doing so, I dug back deeper into the roots and musical styles of both Greg Edwards and Chris Pitman. I then purchased Autolux, Replicants, and then this album Lusk. All three are great, but Lusk has the best vocal arrangement and some interesting music altogether. Morevover, the cd packaging/art is the best I have come across since Tool's Lateralus and 10,000 days. You will find Lusk songs stuck in your head all day after listening to it and it is strangley addicting. It really is in it's own genre as is Autolux. Now, I am currently awaiting Chinese Democracy to hear more of Pitmans amazing work and the new Autolux album coming out.Read full review
