It only takes seconds into Witching Hour's first track "High Rise" to realize that Ladytron is now a band to be reckoned with. Almost nearly abandoning the thin 80's synth band sound that dominated their earlier recordings, a fiercely howling and organic guitar band roars out of the gates. Guitars swirl and clang, drums pound, and a thick bass line rumbles underneath - ushering the band and its fans into a brave, and exciting new world. The keyboards are still omnipresent, only now with a more garage band kick. While this track is a stunner, and one of the best openings to an album you'll ever hear, Ladytron is still Ladytron: dark, brooding and mysterious,framed by their trademark ethereal vocals. Not that the 'Tron has become The Clash mind you. Synths still dominate the show, but are given an atmospheric depth with the "live" rhythm section. The dream-like "All the Way" is a perfect example: the slow build of tension thru the first two verses kicks into a gradually soaring bridge as drums and vocals reach a dramatic climax. This band has shown it can expand its' sound, and now their future is as vast and exciting as this album.Read full review
daaah, it's alright. There should be more songs about seventeen year olds. Seriously though, if you already love Ladytron this record has plenty of the haunting, atmospheric pop you crave. The bulk of the album however doesn't match the power of the lead-off single "Destroy Everything You Touch", at least for me. I don't want to be overly critical, as I do enjoy "Witching Hour" and do recommend Ladytron to any and all fans of electronic music, but their previous record "Light & Magic" would be a better primer for the uninitiated.
Super Space Funk... Get lost in the trance of the Ladytron a must own for any music lover. There best album by far makes you wish you can bottle it up and take it with you!!!! This is the 3rd time I have bought this album it seems to always disappear if ya know what I mean.
INCREDIBLE BAND, i haven't been this excited in finding a new artist in a very long time. The music is wickedly awesome, you will NOT be disappointed. If you can find all their albums, BUY them asap.
Ladytron Is A Band I Have Liked For A While. This Album Has A Lot Of Great Tracks. It You Like Synth, Dance, Or Woman Lead Singer, You Will Enjoy.
