Having been a fan of Blaze Bayley's vocal debut with Iron Maiden on the X-Factor, but being a bit disappointed with the follow up Virtual XI, I wasn't sure what to expect with Blaze's solo effort, his first since being outed from Maiden. What I found on this cd was pleasently surprising. This album is a much heavier, more modern affair than what Blaze had been doing in Iron Maiden. The lower tuned, thrashier guitars actually compliment his vocals very well. I actually think he sounds much more comfortable in this setting doing songs like Ghost in the Machine and the title track. Looking at the credits, I see this was released in 2000, and I know he has released several more solo albums since. The real shame is had he been better received as the singer for Maiden, this album would be a highly acclaimed album and he'd have a huge following now. Instead, this has slipped through the cracks and will be only be appreciated by the few who hear it for what it really is, an undiscovered gem. Highly recommended for those who liked the Blaze era of Maiden.Read full review
This album is amazing. Blaze (Bayley) is an amazing artist, who always has an awesome band for his great albums. This is my favorite B L A Z E album.
