This album came out in 1969 when I was a student at DePaul Univ. School of Music. Ellis & his 23 piece big band was a revelation, different from Basie,Herman,James,Kenton--from any big band. With extra drummers, extra basses;with synthasizers and--most of all--Ellis'specialy made trumpet which let him play notes-where's there no black key between the white keys on a piano-well,all music student, and a lot of teachers, couldn't get over it. And the time signatures! Not just 4/4 or 3/4 or 6/8: how about 7/4 or 9/4 or 3 and 2/3/4,etc. I've had the LP of 'Electric Bath' for all these years and Columbia stopped selling it on CD a few years ago.But I went to the right place,as usuall, and it's simply better than ever.I also got this brand new CD faster, way, way cheaper--what a deal! I only wish Don Ellis was still around: he passed away, from heart problems, when he was only 43.Thanks Don & God bless.Read full review
