This is an excellent example of one of the first bands. These guys all got their start in small groups from period of late 20s to middle 30s. First bands like Benny Goodman,Ben Pollack,Red Nichols,Glenn Miller,Joe Venuti,Eddie Lang started Like Jimmie and Tommy.At one time or another some worked with or for each other.Theirs was a steady up hill struggle till success. The thing that puts the Dorseys ahead of the rest to me is their band came out of the shoot with a bang! Even in their early stages they made incredible songs. Splitting up,they did just as good and finishing up with getting back together,they had simply the best band in the 50s up until both were gone. This I believe made them truly fabulous as evidence of movie and their last great album. This is a nice collection of early works by two leaders you will have to get.
