George Benson may have borrowed some of his guitar-playing style from Wes Montgomery, but no-one can doubt his incredible jazz diversity that he exhibits with dexterity and ease. This 1977 cd was the followup of the Gold cd: “Weekend in LA”, and was George’s 2nd double album in a row. The songs are well produced, perhaps too much and spontaneity was sacrificed to some degree to achieve global acceptance of George. It succeeded in going exactly where the target was, and was rich in guest stars including Ralph MacDonald, Phil Upchurch, Ronnie Foster and many other jazz studio greats. The album waffles between being an R&B and/or jazz recording. In all, it fits most ‘romantic moods’ well, and flows well.
