What is there to be said? This is the last Columbia recording of the Miles' first great quintet plus Cannonball Adderley, and this music is hard bop at its finest. The title track went on to be part of Miles' book for years to come, and with good reason -- it's a fine composition and there is real power in this recording. For an all-star line-up, including John Coltrane, the aforementioned Adderely, Red Garland, Philly Joe Jones, and Paul Chambers -- there is no dominant voice. There is a fine-tuned group with much talent playing classics and songs that would be classics. This is the last recording before Miles turned music on its ear with "Kind of Blue" and definitely a must-have.
phenomenal album, will enhance your collection and be enjoyable to hear always. miles has many great jams, and this album will not disappoint. very nice!
