I bought the book to jump start my eating healthier drive and to lose some of the dangerous belly fat. I didn't have that much but wanted to try this anyway. I'm 5'2 @ 140 lbs. 63 years old. My husband is thin but he said he would do it with me since preparing the meals were going to be different. Liked the book and the recipes: 10 out of 10 Liked the process of 21 days. I didn't dislike anything but be prepared to do completely different shopping for groceries, and more prep time because everything is fresh, fresh and needs to be washed and cut up. Some additional cooking time involved in some receipes. The shakes are very filling and delicious as are all the other receipes. The taste factor in the receipes are wonderful. I'm a "love the butter" girl, but there was no butter used in any of the receipes and the tastes were fantasitc and I didn't miss the butter at all. We also got the follow up book "The Digest Diet Cookbook" More delicious, filling and healthy receipes. We rarely went out to eat as each receipe has portions for at least 4 - and it does not skimp! Highly recommend both Books. I don't know how the product compares to others but Liz makes sure the receipes are delicious looking as well as tasting. It's more work than a quick 30 minute meal, but read the receipes before hand, making a list as you read and pick out what dishes sound good to you. Make sure you have all the ingredients as specified. the shakes are great if you work because you can make it the night before, refrigerate it until you are ready to take it to work with you. Just stir with a fork before drinking. Soups are full of all good things and very filling. I can honestly say you won't be hungry following these dishes and the beginning plan. I gave up on the plan after 2 weeks and I didn't lose anywhere near what some of the examples said. The recipes made quantities that were too much for one person. In some instances the ingredient list for the recipes was not specific enough. For example, it just says nonfat yogurt. Can it be flavored? Can it have fruit? I thought the recipes should have been simpler and the ingredients should have been used in subsequent recipes. I couldn't do most of the exercises because of knee issues so that was a negative. Overall I thought it was too complicated.
