I'm a mid-80's player (bad around the greens but above-average iron player) looking for that next step in my game. I bought these clubs with that expectation and they responded. It's been a month (7 rounds played) since I received them and they have not disappointed. One piece of advice, get fitted for them you will need the proper shaft for these guys as I did. If you have never experienced a blade, don't be afraid with this set. The progression from split-to-cavity-to-blade is great for the mid-handicapper. The long irons are long yet very controllable, the mids are precise and workable from both sides, the short are like throwing darts (you can be aggressive in attacking the pin). I've noticed a 8-15 yard gain in these clubs on flush hits, the occassional mis-hit is devastating to yards. It will make you become a better iron player and eliminate the mis-hits. Example: my old 8-iron was my "150yd. club" now with the VR's it's landing around 163yd. I will have these clubs for a long time as there is still a lot of room to grow with this set. If you are considering, just pull the trigger on the VR combos. I always wanted a set of Mizuno's but after hitting these and the MP-68's side by side with the club fitter I liked the feel of these better which I wasn't expecting. I like to think I'm more of a feel player than a mechanical so I want to be swinging something I feel confident with and know it's going where I want it to. Not to mention the look of these sticks are great. The split/cavity backs are not noticeable at address. Nike has made another great product and satisfied another customer.Read full review
Great golf club with a great feel, especially with the 8,9,P blades. Beginner golfers may have trouble adjusting to the 3 different types of clubhead but an average golfer will be able to step up to the next level of their game with these. I'm a 6 handicap and have been shooting even par since I got them, if I could putt I could have shot several rounds under par. Yesterday I even lipped out for a hole in one with the 9 iron from 160. I also bought the pro combo 56 and 62 wedges and love them. The look of these clubs when addressing the ball gives you great confidence, especially out of the rough. The 3&4 irons are long, I hit the 3 iron 260 off the tee!! I've stopped using my driver. I'm able to spin these clubs without having to use a soft golf ball. Only negative and it's not really a negative but more of personal preference, the grips seem to be lacking in grip in my book so i'm replacing them soon. For the price they are a great deal and fun. My golfing buddies can't believe I have a set of clubs with 3 different heads and I've made them believers after watching me beat them every time.Read full review
If you are looking to take your game to the next level, this is definitely the type of set you want to get. My accuracy on the short irons increased significantly with a combination of more accurate clubs as well as more confidence. While blades are the choice of pros, I think this type of set is legitimately capable of being of delivering that level of play if you can put a high level quality swing with them. Another thing to note is that for the quality of these clubs, they tend to be available at good deals, so they are also in my opinion maybe the best value for this type of iron. I have also demoed the comparable types of clubs from the other makers and did not find them to be any better. If you are looking for a softer forged iron, these may not be the ones for you. I don't think they play particularly firm, but I have felt some real soft forges before, though that is a personal preference.Read full review
I bought these clubs because I was a 19 handicap. Then I saw Tiger Woods using them on TV, so I bought a set. The set comes with a vial of Tiger Woods sweat that you can drink. The sweat came from a golf towel he was using at Kapalua in 1998. If you drink it you will get super golf powers, and as a bonus every chick that works at Waffle House will want to jump your bones. I dropped from a 19 handicap to an 5 handicap in one month so far and ditched the ugly girlfriend because I now have 25 chicks or so chasing me around. These clubs will do wonders for your golf game and your sex life. I would tell anyone thinking about getting a set to do so. Do you see loads of chicks chasing around Luke Donald? NOOO! Why? Because he plays Mizuno.
Finally a successor to the 2006 Pro Combos! Thank you, NIKE!!! I bought this product because: 1. it's a new! 2. it's time for a change. 3. it's predecessor is almost end of life, at least the ones I have. I love these clubs because: 1. I am a NIKE guy. 2. these clubs work for me, literally(custom fitting is a must!!!). 3. they have forgiveness and workability where you need them. 4. the aesthetics make you feel and think that you are a better player...What's that? Yes, if you think "it", then you are "it"...golf is 90% in your head There is nothing to dislike about these clubs, nothing at all. Did I say I love them? Compared to the 2006 Pro Combos, R9 irons, and TaylorMade MCs, these are lighter. Strangest thing is that I didn't have to change much in my tempo, swinging it felt natural. And again, the aesthetics are awesome. They look, feel, and play as players irons which is what I want to be, a real player. Hey, did I say I love them?Read full review
