We bought the 5200DTN to replace a VERY OLD HP8000N. The HP5200DTN is much smaller, lighter, and better looking. The 8000N delivered 11 x 17 pages absolutely flat, but the 5200 pages come out slightly curved up-down and left-right. They have to be stacked and cooled to lie perfectly flat. Also even adjusting to the lightest print setting, the 5200 prints much darker and graphics come out very dark . . . probably fine for most, but we have thousands of pages of pdfs that printed great on the HP8000 but come out too dark on the HP5200. The Manual Feed is harder on the 5200 as there is a slot that hangs up/slows up inserting paper, especially 11 x 17 when manually feeding to print on the backside of a previously printed page. Super speedy, fast first print, and duplex works just fine. All in all it is a very good printer, but output from the HP8000N looked a bit better.Read full review

I had to call my IT to step in and help me with modifying the printer IP address due to my Sisco firewall restriction. I used the printer only for last few days seems well serviced. Since they are located only fifteen minutes away my office, I would love to get connected with them. Thanks guys, great job, very happy so far. Ali

Purchased this Printer to replace the HP 8000. This was the only printer in its class to run 11x17 paper which is very important to my application. We run more than 2500 pages a week through the printer (All types/sizes of paper)and it has worked very well so far. We had some initial problems with the Tray3 Assembly but HP sent us a new one and it works great now. It has been 3 weeks since purchase and no problems to date. System is working very well, Menu's very intuitive setup very easy. Concerned a little about the sturdyness of the unit, Has a lot more plastic parts that the HP8000 of 6years ago, however it looks good and is working great. Time will tell.. NPOLCE
I purchased this printer for large format music printing (11 x 17 inch, for conductor scores), got a great deal by being able to pick it up locally. These are excellent printers, used to be very expensive but can now be bought at reasonable prices. If you are looking for something like this, make sure to get the duplex option (DTN at the end). An alternative for this model is the HP5100DTN.
