The EV 635A and I,a Radio Announcer go back a long way to the early 70's in Radio. This Mic is a real workhorse and is always dependable. One of the most dependable money can buy.The best feature about this Mic is no plosive "P" popping sounds coming from it at all.It will never embarrass you.I've recorded thousands of commercials with the EV635A and it has always been my favorite Mic for all around use.I now own 2 of them plus an EV635N/D.It to has the best plosive protection built in.When Electro Voice built this Mic around 1965,they meant business and it shows.Absolutely the best quality in workmanship went into the production of this Mic.I have 9 other Mics besides these and none protects from plosive sounds like this 'ol reliable. In closing,I highly commend Electro Voice for building the finest Mic ever made in my honest opinion.I still use it to this day on my Radio Show.I highly recommend this Mic.Read full review
The EV 635-A has forever been a standard in the broadcast industry. Great sound and it "takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'." You can drop one of these off a cliff and still have a working (albeit banged up) piece of equipment. I carry a pair of these in my remote recording bag. I record radio program segments in the "great outdoors" and often find myself miles from anywhere. I require broadcast-quality sound and RELIABILITY. You can spend a helluva lot more money and not have near the microphone.
Great for broadcast (an industry standard - just watch your evening news and you'll see some poor sap in the field with one!). Works well for spoken word and narration. Can be used for live sound if you are careful with your gain, speaker placement, etc... on second thought, just use an SM58 or SM57 (cardioid - UNI-directional). 57s have been the choice of the White House for forever. It is omnidirectional but the high end does get directional after about 500 Hz. If it sounds good to you, use it. Seriously, try it on anything and don't forget to try to move the mic around if you don't immediately get the sound you want; a little movement can make-or-break great tone. Best-o-luck! Happy_chappy
This little mic packs a versatile punch. I am using it for recording vocals with excellent results. Does not need as much EQing as other mics I have used, at least for the sound that I am aiming for. I am glad I bought one, and I am excited to have it in toolbox.
