If you're reading this, you no doubt love Bond films and have seen this movie many times. The widescreen Blu Ray is what will be new and refreshing for you. The digital remastering is superb! It all looks and sounds great, especially considering when the movie was made. The bonus material is really cool too. Lots of on set interviews, and beind the scenes footage...all great stuff if you are into that. I suppose I will always favor this particular James Bond movie, as it was the first one I actually saw in the theatre at age 12. I am a big NASA fan, and really enjoyed seeing the shuttles used in the movie. Sure it was all make believe, but it made for a fun movie! All that being said, we are all aware that movies like this are not actual rocket science! Once you get past that little snag, this is a really great Bond film! There's tons of action, lots of gadgets, and pretty girls everywhere. Roger Moore is suave and charming...just as Bond should be. There's plenty of romance about this movie...and not just the sexy stuff. The musical score is large and dramatic, and adds a romantic feel to most of the scenes. Example: Watching the Concorde glide into Rio as the movie's overture plays is just as beautiful to me as the myriad of blondes, brunettes, and redheads! Well...almost...lol! Its a great movie...you can't go wrong purchasing this Blu Ray! Enjoy it!Read full review
Fantastic Blu-ray rendition. For a 30+ year old movie Blu-ray makes it shine! The scenes in Drax's mansion, Venice, Rio de Janeiro, Amazon rain forest, and finally into outer space are sharp and crystal clear. Seems like this was filmed yesterday. The boat chase is awesome with loud, echoing sound. You can now understand why this Bond film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for the special effects used in this movie and its space scenes. The space combat can be said to be the most violent and intense filmed as Blu-ray now really brings it all out. Highly recommend this Blu-ray version of this film which has now become my favorite Bond flick!
I bought this to complete my collection, but it is by far in my bottom 5 James bond films. If you are looking to own them all then it is certainly worth it! But if you are just looking to buy a James bond for a fun watch, then I would go with almost any other James Bond.

The Blu Ray transfer of the movie is excellent. It's a straight upgrade from the Ultimate Edition DVD, which is the best available DVD format for Bond films. Unlike some of the Bond films from the 60s, you can really tell a significant difference with this Blu Ray. As for the movie, some critics didn't like the over-the-top nature of the film, especially the ending. Then again it's James Bond and it's still a fun ride. It has everything you expect from a Bond film--exotic locations, great action sequences, fun gadgets, classic villans, etc. It's well-polished on a grand scale, even if the outer-space finale was a clear attempt to capitalize on the Star Wars craze going on at the time. It's a bit taken for granted today how right they got the Space Shuttle design, which was still in the developmental stages and not yet well known. Yes it's cheesy at times, but it never takes itself too seriously and in the end a worthy Bond installment!Read full review
