This book serves as a good compilation of anything Bond back in 1984, when it was first published. It was revised once in 1988 and is still being published as of 2002 as xerox copies of the 1988 edition by Benson. I don't recommend the xerox copies as the copying was very bad - all the pictures turned out too dark - if possible try to get the 1984 or 1988 edition. Again, the book is a compilation - a research kind of writing - so if you are new to Bond this will definitely be a good start. However, if you have read extensively on Fleming and Bond, say books by John Pearson, Kingsly Amis, etc. - this book will not provide any new information - just a good compilation. Still recommeded for Bond lovers though - a good read!!!
An extremely in depth book about the James Bond phenomona and the life of Ian Fleming. If you're a James freak, like millions of people around the world are, it is a must-read book. Many of the foot notes and references are from THE JAMES BOND DOSSIER (by Kinghsley Amis) and even though THE DOSSIER is also a classic, the Bedside Companion take up and runs with the ball to score many more touchdowns than the Dossier Adrian Gauthier reti_alg@hotmail.com
