The 1916 is one of the more common pre-1919 Buffalo nickels in all circulated grades and is actually the most common 1914 to 1925 Buffalo nickel in both MS64 and MS65 condition. Most examples are very well struck. Luster is usually more satiny than frosty.
This is what is called a FULL DETAIL strike. I have nothing in my collection this well struck. Premium price, but ultra premium coin. Very, very nice

Okay, sometimes when you find a dead Buffalo the best thing to do is bury it. As much as I truly love most of the coins I won at this auction, sadly there were a couple that the restoration process just failed on. Since there were so many usable dates that I really needed for this vintage old album, I'm not complaining here. Plus I'm a huge fan of The Walking Dead, and so I'll just chalk this Buffalo up as an awesome walker. So, no harm done. You're still one of my favorite sellers.

It is so sad that this 1916 DDO has a planchet flaw. The features ars so good for a coin not recognized for decades. It was a fair price and adds to, and is the last major Buffalo in my collection. 1918/7 d NGC MS 64, 1937 d 3 leg pcgs ms 64 cac, and a 1936 d 3 1/2 leg au 58 cac. Of course, I ordered a 1916 DDO pcgs XF 40. It is not near the quality of this coin. Damn that flaw.
