Tippi Hendren is excellent in this film. The suspense in this film is tingling. The bird attacks are truly shocking. But some of Tippi's character's actions are questionable (i.e. going upstairs to check out the mysterious sound. When has that ended well?) Perfect for thriller fans as well as for those who are into Alfred Hitchcock. (Especially if they've just finished North by Northwest, Notorious, Psycho, Rear Window, Shadow of a Doubt, Suspicious and/or Vertigo and are assuming that'll be all the Hitchcock films they'll need to watch.)

I was born in the 50's, and for those who were not. this is still a fantastic move. Please sit still and watch from beginning to the end. Every minute you take to use the restroom or make a sandwich will cause a setback on what has been going on. I was about 8 years old, and when we left the theater that night about 9;00 P.M. it was scary. Every bird in the town were sitting on telephone lines, and looking at us, while all in the same direction and seemed to be whispering about. Birds heads would turn and to their neighbor and unknown low spoken chatter could be heard. We walked slowly and quietly toward home while our hearts beat fast, while our eyes stayed focused on the still sitting birds that sat on wires and talked among themselves about us. It was like LIONS, TIGERS AND BEARS OH MY. Then a few birds fluttered too much and the started swarming in the air, as well as the pigeons on the ground. One of us hollered RUN, and we stuck out for home as fast as we could. Not one bird followed us home or even paid us any attention. I am sure they did not see the movie that we had, but it instilled fear in us that evening for THE BIRDS, preparing to launch a massive attic on the world, and we few kids were to be the first to be pecked to death. We ran home safely, and when I got home, my eyes were as big as search lights, and my heart beat out of my chest. I'm sure that to this day 55 years later, that the birds are still wondering why we ran. Fantastic entertainment for those who can watch a move before ratings were required. I believe I was about 8 - or 9 years old. A good age for a good scare, that left me in love of the movie and now thinking of my influence by the very realistic movie. ALFRED HITCHCOCK was a genius.Read full review
I of course liked the story line. Sometimes unbelievable, but nevertheless all things are possible aren't they? The use of thousands of live birds and nearly 400 trick shots make reality of the seemingly impossible. I Highly recommend this movie. You will be sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. There is a hint of romance in this movie. As always, Alfred is the master at story telling. If you have the opportunity to buy or rent this movie it is worth the money.
Good old movie. Highly recommended

I just got back from the beach, and the whole time I was there watching the waves roll in and the gulls flying by, I thought of this movie. I kept waiting for one of those birds to bonk me on the head. You know it's a good movie when it leaves you thinking about it and wondering if it's gonna happen to you. Five stars
