Something to keep in mind when collecting Amazing Spider-Man #252 is that it was published during a "cover price variant window" during which you'll find two different types of newsstand copies out there, one type with a 60 cent cover price (sold on newsstands in the United States) and the other type with a 75 cent cover price (sold on newsstands in Canada and priced for Canadian currency). Marvel "opened" this price variant window in October 1982 and "closed" the price variant window after August 1986, so Amazing Spider-Man #252 is one of the "mega-keys" that falls squarely within the window. Canada was 9.8% of the North American market for comic books by population size at the time of publication, and only the newsstand portion of that market got the 75 cent cover price copies -- putting them at about 6% of the total produced. Factoring the typical high newsstand destruction rate, we actually see these show up on the CGC census with under 2% rarity (1.7% as of this writing, 6,896 CGC graded copies appearing on census, and 117 of those "broken out" as the "Canadian Edition" variant -- i.e. the 75 cent cover price copies).Read full review

What can I say, I spent my allowance at 12 years old to by 5 of these from Herb's, a candy, magazine, and tobacco store in Yonkers N.Y. Good times, great comic. A must have, a must read. It was on the news. Comic book history! Buy it in any condition, even if you just want to read it. To think of all the gems that must have passed in and out of Herb's doors over those years. Wow!
