This Wheels on Fire, is a novel about the rise and fall of the Canadian/American rock group The Band. The story is told by former Hawks front man Levon Helm who also helped found The Band. This in depth tale starts from their hometown beginnings, through the years backing up Ronnie Hawkins and Bob Dylan. Then eventually branching out to record their own groundbreaking music. The group’s success created many difficult and different challenges that eventually lead to their breakup. They met allot of characters on the way up, and there music will always be revered as some of the best ever recorded. Levon is a true storyteller, and also elaborates on the history of rock and roll as a whole, as well as the history of Woodstock NY. He was kind enough to Include somewhat of a little biography of each band member Robbie Robertson, Garth Hudson, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel and of course in depth history regarding his own upbringings. For any fan this tale is going to add allot of value to their music by knowing where it all stated and exactly how it all came together.
