I purchased this book out of curiosity and to see what made it "The New Police Report Manual". The book is out of date and uses photographs from over 20 years ago. For example, it showed a photograph of a secretary typing a report on a typewriter! The book's content I found it to still be relevant, regardless of the pictures. What held true 20 years ago about police report writing still holds true today. The process of writing a report may have changed from pen and paper to word processing, but the content and how it is organized has not. If anything, computers have "dumb-downed" today's students and new police officers. Actually typing or handwriting a report and having to rely on a thesaurus or dictionary is a great way to learn the intricacies of report writing. The ultimate goal of the reporting process is the trial and, hopefully, the conviction of a criminal by a jury. We don't get there without knowing how to write and more importantly, what to write in a concise, truthful and legal manner. Today's world of law enforcement where computers are used to type police reports, search warrants and arrest warrants. This book was probably an excellent book 20 years ago but there's nothing new in it.Read full review
Good basic writing report information for law enforcement. I recommend it.
