These recordings are already 35 years old; the children who sang the popular songs have long since moved on. Yet their performances remain poignant. "Innocence and Despair" suggests what they left behind on tape, although despair is not really descriptive. I wonder what a reunion would bring? Take "Desperado," for instance. What meaning did school children derive from the lyrics? Nevertheless, the innocence of their rendition takes the song to places neither the Eagles nor Linda Ronstadt could reach. Where would they take it now, at midlife, having experienced, perhaps, more despair than innocence?
Absolutely wonderful! There's nothing like it (to the best of my knowledge) on earth. I wish I would have purchased it when it was released. I've been missing out all these years.

This cd is a rare find. Actually recorded in the mid-70's. I heard a fragment of In My Room on the Good Girls television show a while ago and was immediately intrigued. Wonderful, childlike versions of wonderful songs.

At about the same age as these school kids were playing "Light as a feather, stiff as a board" they were enjoying performing this astounding collection of 60s-70s pop/rock classics. Listen to this to transport yourself to those simpler times when you did'nt wake up worried about traffic and taxes and significant others but instead you ran practicly everywhere you went in a world where trees were huge cloud-hugs and you felt the sun shine on your smiles. Back when everyone did'nt try so dang hard to be "COOL".
This amazing cd is something that everyone with children should listen to. A fine piece of unexpected art. Thanks, Hans Fenger!
