This machine has a certain designer cachet, and if functions well. I brew Cafe DuMonde (yellow can) only, using a double scoop of coffee and less than a cup of water, and then add sweetened condensed milk in order to emulate the Vietnamese style of drip coffee using their "manual" filter method, but I wanted hot coffee. This machine does the job, but there are a couple of later models of Krups which I think produce hotter water/steam and which create a more strong brew. Don't get me wrong, this is a good machine, but I have had many of this type, and the follow-on models might be a little better for my purpose. The frother works great....never get one of these types of machines which does not have the little extra pipe and the important plastic plug with a little hole in it which fits that pipe....essential to make the frother work right! I prefer these "steam" espresso machines to the pressure machines. I tried to make this type of coffee with a 15 bar machine....meh....boring, no taste. I think the heat of the steam machine really cooks the flavor out of the Cafe DuMonde chicory coffee. Of course if you are a coffee purist, this is not for you. One might prefer the black color models, just because you can get away with never cleaning the outside!Read full review

We were so happy to find this Krups Mini 4 Cup Espresso Cappuccino Maker because we had the same model a long time ago. Our old machine finally gave out a few years ago. We tried the new Krups machine and several other espresso makers, were not happy with any of them, and were resigned to having to go to a cafe for our drinks. Then we got the idea to check eBay. This older Krups model is simple to use, very easy to clean, and a delight for people who do not want to have a huge, expensive, coffee shop variety machine. Our only slight complaint is that the espresso could be a little hotter.

I have owned a Krups Espresso machine for 35 years, recently I thought maybe I should replace it even though it was still working (it was hard to find replacement carafes, I only broke two in 35 years ) I thought I should give a newer brand a try… keep up with the world! So, I tried two other espresso makers and they just did not do the job the Krups did. It makes the best espresso/Cappuccino/latte. Also, it is easy to use with a simple on/off button for the coffee. The froth is is always hot. Krups’ reputation as excellent, is very evident with this product!

I had a black Krups espresso maker just like this one. After (probably) 15 years, it finally gave out. Checked on Ebay and found this fabulous replacement. Makes just the right strength coffee for me (strong), takes up little space, has built-in froth/steamer, came with everything included (save the directions, which I didn't need), and is a great color in my kitchen. Wrapped exceedingly well, came very fast and is just perfect.

This is my 3rd machine of this model! My first one eventually started to overheat a little (after 20+ years of use), so when a friend gave me their less-used one, I happily moved to #2 - which I took to the home of a family member for when I visit there. This one, my third, replaces a very fancy and expensive Italian espresso machine that someone gave me - and that after a year I have STILL not been able to find a way to make lattes that I enjoy as much (or that are as efficient and quick to make) as the ones from this little 963! This is NOT an automatic machine. But it's easy to brew, easy with a little practice to make glossy, dense foamed milk, and plenty hot enough for this hard to please patron. If you find one at a good price, buy it!
