I've been through a lot of subs. I buy a lot of cars and when I sell them I like to leave a sub in for the new owner and for the price you cannot beat it. I won a w7 12 and a FI 12 and both are amazing but not cheap. These type r's hit hard for a fraction of cost and to a regular fan of car audio you will probably not hear the difference between these and the higher end subs. I have one type r with a jl 1000 wired at 2ohms and I'm satisfied. Hard hitting clean bass I have it in a jl ported box. Best bang for your buck for a low cost build. I haven't even broken it in yet I'm sure the guy buying my chevelle will be happy and won't even notice I took out my w7?

I can say a lot about this subwoofer but I can sum it all up with DAMN!!!! I have always been loyal to alpine and they continue to deliver with this subwoofer. Im running just one of these with an alpine mrx_m55 amp in a ported box tuned to 40hz and at competition last week I hit 142.6 SPL at 40hz!!!!!!!! Thats one lone type r with only 550 watts at 2 ohms!!!!!!!! I beat a guy with 20,000 watts 20 subs and 20 amps in his full size van! Cant wait two more days til my custom type r box is finished. Had it built exactly to alpines specifications for type r subwoofers. My single type r matched my buddies dual diamond d6's in a custom box powered by an alpine MRD_M1001. Thats twice the power of my amp and yet this single type r is only 1.1 SPL less than his setup. so far I have got two swr-12d2 sub and a 4000w mono block amp 2000 RMS and wow I cant turn it up past half way cuz it feels like i'm going to break something lol great subs good clean bass and they can hit the low notes to just wow

Decided to give this sub a try. Alpine is a well known brand and make good products. Hooked it up in my 02 grand am in a cheap vented box and still sounds great. Hooked to a boss 2000w mono block amp. Hit hard enough that the box is starting to come apart lol. Would recommend to friends. Very pleased with the purchase.
Absolutely loved it!!! I bought this product because I wanted a good sounds system. Something that sounded clear and crisp but still have that deep bass and thump to it. The only thing that would make this product better is maybe a woofer cage?grill to protect the inside if the woofer. There is no comparison, if your looking for a one level below competition, then this is the product. For the price and the quality, you simply cant beat it. I'm definitely using these again on my next project! *****
