My first Memory Craft 3000 was worn out - I imagine it has sewn miles of seams over the year, but it was starting to be less than reliable (it was at least 22 years old - I bought it used). Since it's been discontinued for years, I was thrilled to find one supposedly new in the box. I didn't want an embroidery machine - just another workhorse like this wonderful machine. It's got enough features for the seamstress (I do wedding alterations) and is a reliable every-day machine. I have used it for everything from wedding finery to upholstery with little more adjustment than changing the needle! If I had to make one complaint it'd be that sometimes I can't get the needle high enough to get multiple layers under. And it's not great at jean seams. Even with a "jean-a-ma-jig" it balks there. But its faultless tension, always-perfect stitches and ease of use make it worth those small flaws. Oh, and did I mention this is a QUIET machine. I can't compare it to any others, because this is the only machine I've had for over 20 years, and it replaced a 20 yr old mechanical that was my first machine as a newlywed! I love it enough to replace it with the EXACT same machine. 'Nuff said.Read full review
I've had a very basic sewing machine in the past, and after reading other reviews of the MC 3000 I was ready to buy. It's quiet, with lovely even stitching, a great buttonholer, lots of specialized feet, but not dozens of extra stitch patterns I'm not going to use. Perfect.

Janome MC3000 is an outstanding sewing machine with the quiet and smooth precision of a swiss watch (as compared to my Singer Athena which sounds like an oil drilling rig). I got one 7 years ago and it never missed a stitch or required any kind of service call through countless hours of sewing. Janome high quality all the way. It has a presser foot pressure dial that many machines don't have. I HIGHLY recommend it for years of trouble-free basic sewing, perfect and consistent stitching for several decorative stitches and buttonholes. I personally prefer it over a newer fancier machine that may not be as sturdy and maintenance free. The only maintenence it does need is to keep lint routinely cleaned out of the bobbin case - it does NOT need oiling other than a drop now and then on the wick under the bobbin case. You can't go wrong with the MC3000 even if it's an older machine - many times newer is not better :o)Read full review
Fixed broken bobbin winder, and did an all over clean and oil, not the machine works like new! Even fixed the cracked case!

Excellent little machine with fantastic stitches to choose. Easy to thread, light weight to take to class, but heavy enough to be a stable machine. Has a great even stitch. Just about perfect in every way.
