I owned the exact item & model # which I purchased 9 years ago. I bought it brand new from Guitar Center, xtra foot pedals, I also bought. DigitwithGNX4 is Top of the line, loaded with more than you will ever use. That is why we are still buying & using a 10 yr old model. Can't go wrong- owning a GNX4. Top of the Line.

Like many I've tried various pieces of equipment looking to get a sound I like. Ok, add a few pedals and great, got the sound. Now I need a drummer... Okay start shopping for a drum machine.. Now we're up to a few pedals and a drum machine, cool! Oh wait, that piece really sounded good, i want to record that... start shopping for a 4 track and a mix down deck... Did i mention buying a spaghetti mess of cables? Now to run it into the computer to create the mp3.. oops, need software... You can try and run all of this thru your typical guitar amp, but be prepared for the headache.. Not to mention this setup isn't even close to portable, let alone feasible for doing a solo show. So after much deliberation (and some serious reviewing online) I purchased the GNX4. I was impressed with what i had read (and also seen on youtube) so I thought this is the answer to the prior headache. It is. Pre-reading the instructions was a bit intimidating without physically seeing the unit. There are so many features! The biggest selling point for me was something I could not find on another device. Effect control in each patch! What i mean is this; for those who use a lot of pedals your used to being able to turn each one on and off depending on mood and song. You had complete control over which effect you wanted on and when. Well along came digital age and we got multi-units that gave us every combination imaginable, all located in banks and patches. So...select a bank, then a patch and viola! There is your sound, but wait, what if the delay level wasnt sounding just right? Crap, hey guys, stop the band a sec, I have to reprogram a patch. Or copy the patch, then edit so you could switch between 2 (or more) patches in the course of a song. Ok, start playing again. This was a frustrating expierence I had on several "multi" (roland, art)units, all of which had turned me away from them and back to individual pedals again. So when i saw that this unit allowed me to turn off an effect, via the footswitch just like a regular pedal, my interest was peaked. Then there was the drums, cool, and realistic. Okay, now I have an 8 track recorder that lets me dub on the fly? Wow. Then I can route my signal to how many places, all in stereo? Goose bumps. Plus headphone out, seperate mic in along with line ins. This package is powerful. And the last thing i havent played with yet, USB. That's right, direct into my computer for burning up some mp3s. The manual is pretty well written and it will take some time to harness the full potential of this. Within 30 minutes i had laid down a drum track and layered 5 guitar lines(just for fun, still had tracks to spare!) I was disappointed to learn that digitech has discontinued this unit, but i think i figured out why. Given all the features of this thing I'm sure the competing companies had the digitech engineers dissappear like Jimmy Hoffa! Everything is in this thing, and its pretty rugged. I also got the optional footswitch, which makes recording a breeze. Now if I can figure out the settings so it will brew my coffee too...Read full review
This is the second time I have owned one of these DIGITECH GNX4 units. The list price is totally outrageous, as are most effect boxes in the higher price range. But used on Ebay, the price was right for what this box provides. There are so many features I will never use most of them, but I can program about 10-12 really good sounds that I will use onstage with the rock and blues bands I play with. Access is very easy to tweak the built-in preconceived sounds- there are plenty that are great starting points. The presets are decent, but with about 2 minutes of adjustment, you can really get the sounds improved to sound stageworthy. There is a digital recorder and drum programmer which can be useful for some folks, but I already have a much better studio setup in my house, so for me, these are just some additional features to occassionally check out. For around $200, you can't go wrong. I have similar products by Vox, ZOOM, Line 6, Boss,Roland and a few more less complicated footpedals, but this one is easy to use once you check out the instruction manual-which can become complicated for some of the functions. I definitely suggest this unit- it does so many things you can spend countless hours playing with different sounds and still not get bored. I have 12 amps, and although some sound pretty bland by themselves, with this unit in the chain between th guitar and the amp, you can make even the most feeble solid state amps sing. Go ahead and bid low and at the last second, come in with about $210 or $220 and you should come up with a really nice professional quality toy to mess with for countless hours late at night. No matter what style of music you thrive on, you can enhance your sound with this product. Good luck!Read full review
Amazing technology considering when it was made. The ability to warp amps gives you infinite possibilities. However, you need to purchase the 3rd party Ultimate Amp Models pack separately to truly understand what this pedal is capable of. Truly convincing tones, clean, dirt, lead and all. Amazing for plugging into your DAW and recording. Of course this doesn't mean that they translate well while playing live; you need to cut down the gain and trebles and select the proper cabinet for live tones. Common sense, really. One thing worth mentioning is you can record 2 tracks simultaneously on your DAW, one with effects, and one dry line in, which you can later use for reamping. This is invaluable. This also allows you to monitor your playing with effects in real time without any latency, whilst giving you a dry recording as well! Digitech has really thought things through! The effects such as chorus, delay and reverb are simply delightful. The wah effects are very convincing too, though I prefer to run my Vox Wah in front of the GNX4, leaving the expression pedal to do the myriad other things its capable of. Considering how cheap this can be bought on eBay, its an amazing place for the serious gigging guitarist, whether solo or in a band, to start if funds are limited. Read full review

I never got the GNX4 from this buyer but I had it before, sold it and was trying to replace it with this seller's GNX4. I can say that the one I originally has was really cool. The learning curve was kind of high but not too bad compared to other pedals that do the same thing. The effects are pretty good out of the box, and are customizable so you can make them sound like you want if you put in the time to do so. The thing that makes this unit great is the built in, digital, 4 track recorder and the input for microphone. You really can make an entire song if you want to using the built in drum effects, bass simulator and your guitar. I suppose if you are good at mic~ing real drums you could manage to ditch the canned drums. Anyway this thing is fun, works well, is very sturdy and reliable and sounds great. You can run it straight into a PA system if you want so you don't have to lug heavy equipment. It is worth 150.00 to 200 depending on what add ons you get with it.Read full review
