With a name that evokes the Ludwig Speed King (or what we used to call the squeak King) pedal of yesteryears, the Tama Speed Cobra is a solid, smooth playing and visually appealing pedal. The big issue for improvement is the hinge at the base of the foot plate. It is simply not tight like the professional-level iron Cobra line of pedals. The loose hinge makes noise especially during faster playing against a tightly tuned bass drum head. The is therefore too noisy for recording studio use. Unfortunately, the hinge cannot be tightened well enough to silence it. For live performance, this pedal will work fine for players on a gear budget.

I am surprised at the performance in the HP310 that I don't think I would see so much more to pay more for the HP910. I'm very pleased and happy with the performance since i prefer a longboard pedal.

Very smooth and light pedals, with a little tension adjustment, I was flying faster than I ever had before. I've never played heel to toe with such ease, and I will never go back to short board pedals.

After checking Gavin Harrison's equipment list, I bought this Tama pedal. It has great action and a smooth feel. The 310 series is supposed to be a step down but I honestly can't tell the difference. The price is right and the quality is there.
