The sound quality and mesh responsiveness is great. However, I was used to playing the Alesis Command set (higher end kit) and there are some differences between the kits worth noting. First, the head size on the Nitro is smaller than that of the Command. The Command rack set up is also larger, which enables you to be more versatile in positioning of the heads. After a bit of tweaking, I was able to get the Nitro into what I consider to be a playable position, but it feels very compact. The front rail support on the Nitro is at least 6" shorter in length than that of the Command. It also is a bit shorter, which made me slightly alter my preferred throne height, and also restricts the adjustable height of the pads. Now, of course, the Command is twice the price. So, I can understand the reason for the differences. I do feel that the sound quality of the Nitro is excellent. While the amount of sound selections are limited, it is more than adequate (and there is a setting that sounds very similar to that of an acoustic set. I could never really locate that on the Command. So, I give the Nitro more points in that regard). Overall, it's a good quality compact set. It's small enough that if I wanted to stick it fully assembled into the back of a mini van and go and do a gig, I can easily do that. I would definitely recommend this kit.Read full review

I've had my Alesis Nitro Mesh kit for just a day or two now and so far I absolutely love this thing! I'm a moderate drummer, but mostly a guitarist/composer so I bought this kit to make demos in my studio with. For the price I wasn't expecting such high quality! I did my homework and saw what I was buying but not until I actually put my hands on this kit did I really appreciate the true effort that went into it. Alesis makes all sorts of great products and they're only getting better that's for sure! The response on this kit is awesome, and the pads and rack are made very well. Super impressed with the kick pedal too, happy I spent the extra $40 on this particular model that included the real kick pedal and choking cymbal. If I had to give any "con" on this at all I would say the drum module/brain feels just a little cheap and it would be super useful if the function buttons lit up so you could see what's going on without a light. It isn't a piece of crap by any means though! It has tons of good features including the ability to easily integrate these drums with any software VST programs like Superior Drummer, or Addictive Drums etc. Very easy to map everything and it works perfectly. Highly recommend this kit to basically anyone who either needs a nice quiet practice kit, or something like I'm doing which is using it to help with song arrangements and ideas. 4 out of 5 stars only because the module could have been done a little better. Great buy!Read full review

a budget friendly kit with a lot to offer. You can create up to 40 customizable sets to program with a little over 300 samples/fx to compile from. one of the only electronic drum kits to feature synthetic mesh heads, and some really quality mesh too. PROS: - USB-B connector and MIDI compatible to record on PC. - Beautiful, responsive, and adjustable synthetic mesh heads. - 3 cymbals, 3 toms, 1 snare, 1 kick pad, etc. (you have pretty much all you need for a standard setup) - 2 outlets, add another cymbal, tom, or drum pad. - QUIETLY play while people sleep. it's not silent but quiet enough to avoid scrutiny. CONS: - change to a more sensitive/responsive hi-hat trigger/pedal as it can come off a bit wonky. - kick drum beater is made of felt and WILL DO DAMAGE to your kick pad. Please try getting an impact pad before you play (pic in review) if you plan to keep that KPad for a while. - cymbals are basic except the crash which you can clamp after striking. no bell on the ride cymbal so you kinda get what you pay for. - plastic clamps are pretty substantial but still, I worry about their long term durability. the fear of overtightening and stripping is possible so take caution and focus on your quarter turns. other than that its great. add a couple more parts and it's excellent. Everything I was looking for at the price I could afford. The only difference I could see between the more expensive sets and this one was a cymbal and a slightly more advanced brain. I didn't need all the extra drum sounds, all I wanted was a set that was like my acoustic set and a double base pedal. Way less expensive than the next price up. Thank you for an easy experience.

Decent kit, good sounds and features. Kit is small, adjustability is just ok, drum heads are countersunk and take some getting use to.
