The Philips HF3500/60 Wake-Up Light uses a combination of lights and sound to wake your body slowly. This technique mimics the natural rhythms of the sunrise. As the lighting on the Philips HF3500/60 gradually increases, your body is cued to recognize it's nearly time to wake up. The process of the lights increasing takes 30 minutes. When the alarm goes off, your room is filled with a bright yellow light. At the conclusion of the 30 minutes, a beep will sound to ensure that you are now awake. If you do not turn off the beep by gently tapping the top of the device, it will gradually increase in volume. The volume will continue to increase for a minute and a half. Tapping the top of the Philips Wake-Up Light will activate the snooze feature. Nine minutes later, the sound will start up again. When shopping for an alarm clock with sunrise simulation capabilities, it can be tempting to look at ones with accessories. Sometimes, consumers want a charging dock for their iPhone or other electronics. However, research has shown that the blue light on many electronic devices is damaging to your sleep. This discovery is why the design of the Philips Wake-Up Light was kept streamlined without accessories such as an AM/FM radio. The gentle combination of increased lighting and the reminder noise is all that’s needed to wake you gently. There are 10 different light intensities to from which to choose with this model. If you wish to wake up to only the beeping sound, you can turn this setting to '0.' The highest setting goes up to 200 LUX. This feature makes the Philips model HF3500 able to function as a bedside lamp as well as an alarm clock.

Great, but Loses Time
This clock is great for the price. The slow-rise wake is good, it's a good reading light, etc. The only major problem I have with it is that it will slowly lose the time over the course of a few weeks. What I mean is that the internal clock is a bit slow, and so after a few weeks it will begin to be a few minutes behind, and you'll have to reset it. But oh well, it's easy to fix, and the rest of it does a good job.

Beepy little bugger but works well!
This is a very simple wake up light. The buttons are simple & make sense with just a few minutes of fiddling. If you like old style alarm clocks then you'll like this, the controls are similar. The only thing I hate is that there's a beep and there's no way to turn it off. I prefer that I wake up to gentle sounds and this thing has a beep which goes off instead of just allowing the light to wake you. My solution is to bury it with fabric and hot glue, I'm going to keep working on smothering it but if that doesn't work I'll open the speaker area and see if I can't just remove the noise portion. Basically, if you buy this be prepared to deal with the beep. I knew about it beforehand which is why I bought it used rather than new.

Very happy with my purchase
I have a hard time waking up in the winter because it’s so dark. I loved waking up to this, it was the least intrusive way of waking up and it’s a two for one with the lamp setting. I thought the instructions were pretty easy to set up.

Getting use to it, but worth the effort.
The light can be a bit 'in yourface' on some mornings, which is why I set it to low and turned it upside down and placed it on the floor. The alarm sound itself I'm still use getting use to; the sound is beeping. But it must be working cause I'm getting out of bed much easier now.
