Pental has many choices of lead darkness
You can not beat these leads for Cross Vintage Mechanical Pencils. I love the vintage mechanical pencils and have many. I prefer the softer, darker leads and Pental has a good choice. I will never run out of leads now so I am very pleased.

Pentel for My Art
As a watercolorist who relies heavily on an underdrawing, i require soft lead that cleans up well when erased. That is consistant without that surprise little grit of hard material hidden in the lead. Pentel does all of that for me.

4B Softer lead is easier to read.
I like the softer lead because it is easier to read than the HB or harder leads. I would buy a 7B lead if it was available.
