MY COMPRESSOR QUIT PUMPING UP AIR AND WOULD JUST RUN AND MAKE NOISE. I WENT ONLINE TO SEARS DIRECT AND VIEWED AVAILABLE PARTS AND, ASIDE FROM A COMPLETE REBUILD, ALL THEY SOLD WAS THE RING SO I ORDERED ONE. WITH EXPEDITED SHIPPING IT WAS $36. I JUST HAPPENED TO RUN ACROSS THIS KIT WHILE BROWSING FOR OTHER THINGS ONLINE. THIS KIT IS GREAT. IT TOOK LESS THAN AN HOUR START TO FINISH AND MY COMPRESSOR CRANKED UP LIKE NEW WITH NO PROBLEMS. AND ITS GENUINE CRAFTSMAN PARTS. I MENTION SEARS DIRECT BECAUSE I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY DON'T SELL THIS PART IN CASE ANYONE ELSE RUNS ACROSS THIS PROBLEM..

Purchased two since my compressor has twin cylinders. It wouldn’t build up past 90 psi and was afraid I was looking at a new compressor until I found these. Half hour or so to install and my compressor is back to like new performance at a fraction of the cost.

Repair kit instructions were easy to follow . Quality parts fit perfectly. Piston ring presented some difficulty in the installation, could have benefited from suggestions or instruction. Over all, good value.

I was worried when my compressor stopped building pressure cause I didn't want to have to spend $400. So I pulled the covers off and found that it had two broken head bolts and the gasket that isn't round Head Gasket was torn. Checked with Sears and they wanted 20 for the 2 head gaskets and 80 for the kit that has the sleeve and ring and 2 gaskets. Went on ebay and found this kit Sears original for 26 with free shipping. What a deal had it in 3 days. Had to drill and extract the 2 bolts . he kit was a breeze to put in even though at first I couldn't figure how to get the ring inside the sleeve. Figured it out though slid the sleeve over the piston and bring piston to top dead center. Bolt the ring on and rotate the crank down and then tighten the bolt that holds the ring to top of piston cycle piston 3 or 4 revs by hand an re torque. Put all back together and fired up it came to full pressure in 1/2 the time it has for as long as I can remember. So guess it was time for a rebuild. I'd say excluding drilling out old bolts it took less than a 1/2 hour to tear down and reinstall.Read full review
