Having watched all the YouTube videos I could find on this grill I ordered it. It arrived package expertly and safely. Immediately I was struck by the quality of the pieces as I removed them from the box. Assembly only took ten minutes and only required a large Phillips screwdriver. A 7/16" nut driver could be used to tighten the bolts down if desired. After seasoning the rather substantial cast iron grate at 400 degrees for one hour after washing it and applying a light coating of vegetable oil I was ready for first light. I set it up to sear a three pound eye of round that had come out of an 18 hour water bath in my sous vide cooker. I got the grill temp up to 600 degrees as indicated by the thermometer included and verified accurate by my wireless bbq thermometer I was able to get a beautiful sear on all sides of the roast in a matter of minutes. Closing the lid and securing it with the clasp and closing up the upper and lower vents extinguished the lump charcoal I was using saving it for later use. I could not realistically be more satisfied with a product. It's just the right size for me living alone. Easy to operate. Be warned to monitor the temperature carefully as once it gets hotter than your desired temp it takes a while for it to go back down. The grill is very hard to control the temp. It is very time consuming to use. I cooked a Brisket on it and followed the cooking instructions and the Brisket was very tough. I hope it will get easier to use as I use it more but for now there is a learning curve, so be aware!

Except for special occasions like the big bird day etc this thing has more capacity than you think.. I had lid fitting issues that a little muscle fixed easily, just had to twist the hinge carefully, it's mild steel so it will bend adjust fairly easy, and it's well made heavy little unit. I was surprised but have had great experience with Chargriller brand, I have a huge offset smoker by them converted to propane that doesn't get used much unless doing brisket or turkey on special occasions.. like 3 times a year lol.. The rest of the time this little akorn is perfect and we use it several times a week. Starting out I would only do 4 quarters thinking that was all it could do, wrong, try 8 quarters! That's packed pretty tight but listen, set both dampers on 2 and burn half a chimney of lump dump it in spread it out and voila, about an hour and perfect smoked chicken at 250-275 . When you're done shut the dampers and lid and walk away, you will find you have most of the charcoal left next time, it seals that well! Forget the $700 ceramic fragile woops cracked it !! These are tougher and I guarantee work just as well. Steaks I just leave the lid open and bottom damper open, can do probably 8 x 8oz filets or 4x 8-10oz ribeyes, no need for the larger unless cooking for more than 5-6 people.Read full review

It is perfect for me as a single person the size is such that I can cook with charcoal rather than my gas grill. While I have had it fairly brieftly It seems to be of excellant quality and performance. I have constructed some home made legs that make it the best height for home cooking since I go not plan to use it for tailgating. It might be a good idean to add extenson legs to the grill package or offer it as an option.

Have the full size, needed something smaller for rv. Well this guy will still feed 4 easily. Put the seat belt around it in the back of my crewmax when on the road, light weight,compact, works just like the bigger brother, love these grills,. Assembly is easy, just remember when putting on handle for the top, use Phillips screw driver to start and tighting, socket ,wrench,and big fingers are no help. Stay calm, and grill on.
